Josie Franklin designs and makes jewellery at Asymifos, her studio shop on Symi in the Dodecanese islands of Greece. She graduated with a degree in design and illustration at De Montfort University in Lincoln, and has lived in Greece for almost eight years.
Her work focuses on ethnic and traditional design, using mainly semi-precious stones and silver. Each piece is unique and individually crafted, and customers’ choice of colour-ways and design can always be followed.
In addition to her own work Josie imports pieces from other parts of Greece and consequently offers a wide range of elegant jewellery to suit all tastes. However what is shown on this web site is only a selection of Josie’s work and much more can be found in her shop, Asymifos. This is situated in the main part of the Symi harbour, at the foot of the Kali Strata, opposite Kalodoukas Holidays.
Greece is a very special place which transforms the people who visit it and Josie Franklin’s beautiful jewellery derives its inspiration from the translucent colours and remarkable light which are a feature of the Greek islands The wonderful blues of the sea and sky, the wine-dark colours of an Aegean sunset, the ochres and ambers of the distant hills, all contribute to the unique pieces that Josie designs and makes in her workshop.
Her jewellery makes a fabulous keepsake of dreams and memories of Greece, as well as welcome gifts. Necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings all feature in her collection as well as the kind of accessories that will enhance any outfit, including decorative corsages in crochet work and beads.
